The Lobster Shack at Two Lights
Come for the pickle, stay for the views
Cape Elizabeth is rich in lobster spots, but the Lobster Shack at Two Lights is the full package in its legacy (open for 50+ years), dramatic views, and delicious seafood. The lobster roll has its formula down to a science. Respectable pile of lobster meat (warm). Dollop of mayo (the same, perfect portion each time). Pickle (chip). Hot dog bun. Classic in its approach, creative in its finish, this is a roll worth traveling for, even if the views weren’t some of the best in southern Maine.
Where To Go
Sit on one of the fast-food-red picnic tables with your back to Two Lights State Park, the namesake of this establishment, and to your left you’ll see the first of the two lights—the Cape Elizabeth. To the right, take in sweeping ocean views, with the Atlantic wild against the rocks of Dyer Point with nothing but heavy blue as far as the eye (and public telescope) can see. The Shack is beautiful inside and out, dramatic and unobstructed whether you eat in a window seat or on the back patio.
With the Cape Elizabeth Lighthouse looking over the shack, there’s plenty to see nearby. If the picnic tables out back are full, head down the road to Two Lights State Park and grab a bench overlooking Casco Bay. For those looking to eat their lobster rolls with toes in the sand, Crescent Beach State Park is nearby and has some stellar views to accompany its miles of coastline.
