Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier
A bright, BYOB, boat-friendly spot
Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier falls into the, “lobster in the rough” establishment classification, one we not only appreciate, but seek out. Such a qualifier typically leads us down a windy road along the coast, ending with water views, fresh seafood, and the kinds of seating options that scream summer. CCLP has all of these features at the ready for your arrival, with a menu for a-fish-ianoados (sorry) and landlubbers (their words) alike.
No matter how you arrive at Chauncey Creek (you can also dock your boat on the pier!), plan to stay for a while. Located on Maine’s southern coast in the beautiful area of Kittery Point, you’ll walk down the ramp to a greeting of bright, long picnic tables. This shack is BYOB, meaning you can cart-in some fine white wine to go with your seafood of choice, beers to wash down whatever’s fried, or booze to take in the views. Sometimes, we opt for all of the above. You probably should, too.
What To Eat
As for the food, everything’s good, as expected. We prefer to pick something from each section. The Chowdah of the Day never disappoints, the Peel & Eat Shrimp serves as an excellent companion to any entrée, and their lobster, tuna, and crab rolls are all absolutely excellent. Of course, you’ll likely be looking for a 1 to 4 lbs. boiled lobster, the main draw of this riverside spot. And really, who could blame you? Just leave room for the rest, or plan a repeat visit.
Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier has been around since 1948, but the facilities are some of the best anywhere, proving just how serious this family-run spot takes treating its diners to a next-level meal. Their story is worth a full read, so be sure to do it here before you head on over.
